Individual Counseling In Houston Heights and Virtually Throughout TX and CO

Therapy for adults and teens who are tired of just managing through their days and are ready to actually heal.

You've read the self-help books, know your patterns, and have maybe even tried therapy before. And still, something keeps pulling you back into the same patterns.

You don't need another coping strategy. You need a space where the why finally makes sense, and where you can start to change it for real.

Therapy to help you break old patterns, build deeper connections, and heal from the inside out

Is Individual Therapy Right For You?

To an outsider, you look like you’re holding it all together. You can show up for work, cross grocery shopping off your to-do list, and even smile through the occasional happy hour meetup. But inside, your emotions are running the show, and they’re screaming that you just need a break.

Maybe you:

  • Spiral into shame or self-criticism after small mistakes

  • Lash out or shut down in arguments, and can't figure out why

  • People-please until you're resentful, then feel guilty for having needs at all

  • Struggle to trust yourself or the people closest to you

  • Feel disconnected from yourself, like you’re just going through the motions

  • Know things "aren't that bad" but still can't shake the weight of it

Together, we can dive deep into understanding what is keeping you stuck, and help you finally heal the core wounds underneath.

What Is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy (also called individual counseling) is one-on-one work with a licensed therapist to understand your emotions, patterns, and relationships and change what isn’t working. It’s a private space, built around you, where you set the pace and the goals.

My Approach

I'm not the therapist who hands you a list of coping skills and calls it a session. The work we will do together goes deeper than that.

My approach is warm, trauma-informed, and built around you - not a protocol. My first priority is building a relationship that makes you feel safe enough to be honest and dive into the hard stuff, because that relationship is where the real healing happens.

From there, we’ll use a mix of approaches depending on what fits you best. My favorites include IFS (Internal Family Systems), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT, and EMDR. I use these techniques to help us dive deep, understand your patterns at the root, and achieve lasting change.

Our sessions will feel collaborative. I'll bring curiosity and warmth; you bring whatever you've got that day. Nothing is off-limits here, and there is no set agenda or timeline. I believe with a little guidance, you have what it takes to heal and live the life you want.

What We Might Explore Together

Individual counseling is flexible by design. What brings someone in is often just the starting point, and what we uncover underneath is where the real work happens.

Common themes I help clients with include:

  • Anxiety and chronic overthinking: learning to quiet the mental noise and trust yourself again

  • Relationship patterns: understanding why you keep ending up in the same dynamics, and how to change them

  • People-pleasing and boundaries: finding your voice without the guilt hanging over you

  • Emotional regulation: getting more space between what you feel and what you do

  • Self-worth and identity: rebuilding a relationship with yourself that isn't based on productivity, approval, or performance

  • Life transitions: navigating change, grief, or major decisions with more clarity and less fear

You don't need to show up to session one with a neat list of goals. You can start by saying "I just know something needs to change," and we can figure it out from there together.

Why Choose A Licensed, Trauma-Focused Therapist?

As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in Texas, I:

  • Follow the ethical standards of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and the Colorado State Board of Licensed Professional Counselor Examiners

  • Have completed basic EMDR training and am currently finishing a 10-month advanced training program in complex trauma and dissociation, as part of my path to EMDR certification

  • Have completed IFS training through Syzygy and the IFS Institute’s Online Circle program, and bring an IFS-informed approach to my work

  • Draw on ACT and CBT alongside trauma-informed approaches, so the work fits you and not a one-size-fits-all protocol

  • Offer both in-person and telehealth sessions so you can do this work where you feel most comfortable

What Healing Can Look Like

Therapy can help you feel more grounded within yourself and more connected to what really matters to you. Imagine sitting with yourself and feeling a sense of calm settle over you as you realize you’re finally able to show up as the person you want to be.

You may begin to notice:

  • You stop picking apart every interaction after it’s over

  • You can have hard conversations without completely shutting down or spiraling

  • You set a boundary and don't spend three days second-guessing it

  • You start to actually feel your emotions instead of managing them from a distance

  • You trust yourself and others more

My clients often tell me they have more confidence, can regulate their emotions and show up even when it feels hard, and, most importantly, feel happier because they’re living the life they’ve been wanting.
